Important Message for Parents regarding changes in Immunizations required by State of Kentucky
A recent amendment to 902 KAR 2:060 (Immunization Schedules for attending school) added NEW immunization requirements for the school year beginning on or after July 1, 2018.
The following will apply to the 2018-19 School Year:
- All students in kindergarten through twelfth (12th) grade must show proof of having received 2 doses of Hepatitis A vaccine to attend school (doses are administered 6 months or more apart), and
- Students ages 16 years or older must show proof of having received 2 doses of Meningococcal ACWY vaccine (MenACWY) to attend school. HOWEVER, if the first dose of MenACWY was received at age sixteen (16) or older, the second dose is not required for school entry.
Finally, all vaccines administered should now be printed on the Commonwealth of Kentucky Certificate of Immunization Status, which can be found on the Kentucky Department of Education Website at https://education.ky.gov/districts/SHS/Documents/Certificate%20of%20Immunization%20Status%202017%20(ADA).pdf.
Please see your child’s medical provider or local health department as soon as possible in regard to your child’s immunizations. DON’T DELAY!! BE SURE TO HAVE AN UPDATED AND CURRENT CERTIFICATE SUBMITTED TO YOUR CHILD’S SCHOOL BEFORE THE START of the 2018-19 SCHOOL YEAR.
