This month is flying by too fast! We have a lot to do in Kindergarten. In reading we are practicing reading fluently and using inflections. We are learing to read silent e words and words with vowel pairs in them such as the "oa" in coat.  Keep reading with  your child at home, please.  We are continuing to work on additon facts within 5 and we have started subtraction.  The timelines you all are working on are awesome! The students can't wait until it is time to share them!!! The timelines will go on display in the hall once they have been shared with the class.

Here are some upcoming event for Kindergarten.

    April 28--Sharpen the Saw

    May 5th--Kindergarden Derby

    May 10th --Field Trip

    May 17th --Walk-a-Thon

Be looking for notes coming home about these events!

** CES will not have Early Release Friday in May**

  • How Can I Help At Home?

This post is to inform you of a few strategies to use at home to help your child achieve in school.

    1.  Have your child to read letters of the alphabet to you whenever they appear in public places. For example, if you are at RIte-Aid ask them to tell you the letters on the building. Ask them to tell you what letters are capitlized. Ask them to tell you what letters are vowels.

    2. Have your child to count for you. Put the objects that they are counting in a "scattered" pattern. Put the object in a circular pattern.  Reinforce the fact that the last number they say tells them how many is in the group.

    3. Give your child an age appropriate chore such as setting the table, folding towels/wash rags, or loading the dishwasher. This teaches them RESPONSIBILITY. This is  important for children to learn.

  • Mission Statement

Kindergarten  students SYNERGIZED this week and came up with a mission statement  for our classes.

Our Kindergarten classes will be leaders. We will practice the 7 Habits. We will begin with the end in mind and be ready for first grade. We will always be kind.
