Finally! What you have all been waiting for...building catapults! You will be using the engineering and design process to develop a mini-marshmallow catapult. You MUST follow all steps of the process in order to be successful.
I can define a simple design problem reflecting a need or want that includes specified criteria for success and constraints on materials, time, or cost.
I can generate and compare multiple possible solutions to a problem based on how well each is likely to meet the criteria and constraints of the problem.
Engineering and Desgin Process:
Task: You must build a catapult that can shoot a mini marshmallow the farthest.
Can only use ONE plastic spoon
Can us a MAXIMUM of 25 rubber bands
CANNOT use a marshmallow to test, but can find a comparable item
MUST BE self-supporting, except one finger to hold it down (When you shoot it, you can only hold it down to the floor with one finger.)
Things You Are Allowed:
You CAN break the craft sticks
You CAN use as many craft sticks as you would like.
EACH catapult wil be tested 3 TIMES and we will take the best of the three distances
You may hold the catapult down against the ground with ONE FINGER when launching!
