I have enjoyed seeing former Caverna High School students at Readifest, Back to School Bash and places of employment over the summer. In case you are looking for me, I am now at Caverna Elementary School. I am loving the smiles and hugs that I get everyday. I am excited to start a new school year!
Many of you already know that I was an Air Force brat as a child. What you probably do not know is that I was actually born at Caverna Memorial Hospital ( now The Medical Center at Caverna). My family moved to Virginia when I was about 3 months old. I have lived in Delaware and Florida as well.
When I was a child I loved to pretend that I was a teacher. I would give my brother and cousin grades and I was extremely bossy. In undergraduate school at University of West Florida I decided that I would teach, even though my mother wanted me to go into Law. My first teaching assignment was at an elementary school in Delaware. I knew that I needed to understand more about my students than just academics. I pursued a master's degree in Social Work at Delaware State University which helped me to see my students in other aspects such as spiritual, social, emotional, and environmental.
I have taken some educational leadership classes at Liberty University in Virginia. After the birth of my daughter, I put this degree on hold. To be continued...Everyone can lead someone. Just know that you are responsible for what they are led to.
I still have Florida in my blood as well. I miss the beach (in the evening). You will see pictures of my classroom beach on my webpage as I add and improve my classroom learning environment!
