The Colonel Update!
By: Shelby Branning
The Colonel Update is a school-wide newsletter that tells students and their families about what they are learning in the classroom. It also allows teachers to recognize students for good behavior and classwork. To make this, I used Microsoft Word. In order to have the background of my newsletter a different color, I used the Page Color option under the Design tab. After adding a page color, I searched for Christmas light and Christmas tree images on Google. I found the image that I used on a Free Christmas Border website that can be found at this link: http://www.fg-a.com/christmasborders.shtml. I picked a free border and pasted it onto my newsletter background. I added different size boxes to the newsletter by inserting a text box and changing the border color to yellow. After getting all of the text boxes sized and placed, I added the collected information from the teachers to each box. Each grade level has a box for their class news. Our STLP group was also featured on the newsletter. They are pictured with a check they received from a local company. The fonts that I used on the newsletter are Kimberly Geswein Fonts. I found these fonts for free on her website. They can be found using the following link: http://www.kimberlygeswein.com/download-all-kg-fonts/. Each file is saved from Microsoft Word as a PDF file so everyone can access them on our school website.
